MCA Community Education Development Bureau (Lifelong Learning)
Lifelong Learning is structured under the MCA Community Education Development Bureau, which the Bureau also comprises of Langkawi Project. The Lifelong Learning Campaign was initiated by MCA in October 2004 with the objectives of shaping a learning society and increase competitiveness of the community.
In the past four years, Lifelong Learning had organised activities and learning programmes—short courses, public talks, exhibitions, workshops—throughout the country. With the re-positioning of Lifelong Learning, there are 3 key strategies—namely (1) Increase Competitiveness; (2) Humanities and Lifestyle, and (3) Civic Awareness—which encompass the community learning needs as well as 10 MCA Community Education Centres (MCA Lifelong Learning Centres) as the platform to provide learning opportunities at community levels.
The 10 MCA Community Education Centres are located Wangsa Maju (Kuala Lumpur), Serdang (Selangor), SS25 (Petaling Jaya, Selangor), Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Ipoh (Perak), Bentong (Pahang), Melaka, Kulai (Johor), Tanjong Piai (Johor) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah). These Centres organize activities such as short courses, tuition classes and public talks as well as provide reading resources for the community. Between June 2008 and July 2009, Lifelong Learning has organised 221 public talks and short courses which attracted more than 20,000 participants throughout the country.
