To provide a conducive environment and promote a healthy reading culture by setting up reading clubs in the Lifelong Learning Centres and at community levels
Objective:
LLL Reading Club will invite speakers with relevant expertise and experience to be the Mentor and share their thoughts on the selected books. In-depth analysis and guidance will help the readers to have better grasp of the subject.
*No prior reading is required but participants are encouraged to bring the selected book to attend the reading club. Master the essence of the book within hours through the Mentor’s analysis and guidance.
Approach:
- The Reading Club book selection is carefully selected by a panel of experts from diverse fields. This ensures that the book selection is of good quality and covers a wide range of interest. The book selection will be drawn up approximately twice per year.
- Book selection covers the following subject areas: Social Science, Literature and Classic, Parenting Skills and Education, Life and Health as well as Business and Management.
- Coordination, assistance and guidance will be given to the Lifelong Learning Centres, MCA divisions, Chinese Guilds and Clans, as well as community organisations to form reading clubs. Based on the list of book selection, the respective reading club will organise reading activities either once every week, fortnight or month.
- Speakers with relevant expertise and experience will be invited to be the Mentor to share their thoughts and lead the discussion.
